Introducing Dr Iréne McLachlan

MBChB (Stell) FCDerm (SA) MMed (Derm) (Stell) Dip HIV Man (SA)

Dr Iréne McLachlan obtained her MB.ChB degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2005. She undertook her Dermatology Specialist Training also at Stellenbosch University,Tygerberg Hospital, under the guidance of international acclaimed Professor HF Jordaan and Dr WI Visser.

Dr McLachlan obtained Fellowship of the College of Medicine South-Africa and published her MMed research regarding cutaneous tuberculosis in the International Journal of Dermatology. She has presented at the South-African Dermatology Congress, General Practitioner Update and HIV Management courses.


Her key interests are acne and hairloss due to the devastating psychological impact and scarring side-effects of each.
Dr McLachlan enjoys and practices all aspects of Dermatology especially early detection and treatment of skin cancer, dermatitis and psoriasis, including the use of biologics. She has a deep-seated empathy for cancer patients and provides specialized skin care for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Her dermatological training included cosmetic training and has been complemented by master classes under international acclaimed cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons. She continues to regularly attend cosmetic dermatology training in the use of botulinum toxin and dermal filler injections for skin rejuvenation.

She is a member of the Dermatological Society of South Africa and the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery.
Dr McLachlan is married to Dr Pieter Naudé, an ENT surgeon, with whom she is sharing a practice. They have a 6-year old son and a 3 year old daughter. She enjoys classical music and is a keen organist having received tutoring as part-time student at the Stellenbosch University Konservatorium.
